At the same time as this new legislation is being implemented, the crime rate is climbing and detection rates are falling. The police are under increasing pressure to prioritise their services. They have already said that alarm response and protection of buildings is a low priority with the intention that alarm calls will soon not be serviced at all. As security is something everyone wants, private security has to plug the gap.

Security practitioners in management positions have long recognised the need for their abilities to be understood clearly by employers. This requirement has manifested itself in a huge variety of Associations, Guilds and Institutes where security practitioners signpost their 'professionalism'. There has been an increase in the range and nature of academic and vocational security related qualifications.
Sawley Security
Sawley Security was formed late 1993 as a partnership, providing static guarding services in Nottingham.
Due to expansion into Mobile Patrols and Keyholding it was formed as a limited entity in 1996. Following the implementation of a quality system, the company was certificated to ISO 9002 in September 1999 and in the November was granted membership of the BSIA.
